“White-washed food?”
Oil paint & dry metallic powder

I made this wooden canvas at a wood workshop. Inspired by a memory of someone saying I’m white-washed when I told them what I ate for dinner was not rice. I do eat rice and traditional Filipino food, however, that statement of me being “white-washed” really made me think about my culture identity.

“Fishing at Little Huia”
Oil paint

Looking through photos from my dad’s online albums, I stumble across the album “Fishing at Little Huia” 2011. We went to Little Huia so many times as kids. I painted my sisters, my papa, and I in Filipino traditional wear. My sisters and I, kiwi’s in New Zealand.
